Appalachian State University

This is where Josh works. He loves it and thinks that he made the right choice for a career. Appalachian is a nice university. My Mom went here for undergrad and grad school. She student taught at Watauga High School which is right near where I am working on Highway 105. I just want to share with everyone all the pretty things that I get to see each day living in the mountains. When I look out the window I see the mountains surrounding us since it's winter and there are no leaves on the trees. When I'm coming down the hill to my parking spot I can look out and see the ski slopes on the mountain in front of me. I couldn't ask for a prettier setting. The mountains really are majestic and I love being able to bask in the glory of God's makings.

Cooold in Blowing Rock

When I woke up this morning it was 22 degrees outside. Believe it or not this is actually an improvement from the rest of the winter morning temperatures. It is 9:46 and I don't have to be at work for a while. I am also getting some chores done or trying to at least. I definitely have to get Josh's oil changed today. It is long overdue. His is the car that we drove to Alabama and Mississippi and even to Washington, DC. I bet that it's about 1000 miles over the limit. I am excited about starting my new full time job because it's so rewarding. Little children are such a treasure.

I talked to Lindsay today and my dress for her wedding is in. I'm so excited about May 2, 2009. She is going to make a beautiful bride. It is so strange. The dress is a watermelon color and I can't wait to wear it. I think that the bright colors that she has planned for her wedding is going to be wonderful. This picture up above here is not the exact color of the dress but it's the same style.

Lady in the Snow

January 2009

This month has proved to be a great month and really has shown us how the Lord provides in ways that we least expect it. In the middle of December, right before Christmas break, I decided to resign from Moravian Falls Elementary School where I was teaching 4th and 5th grade reading. I found that the commute and the weather were proving to be very trying for me. After this we took off for the holiday vacation. We went to Alabama on the 19th and went to Mary Ann and Kevin's Christmas party and then stayed the night with Adam and Ashley. Then on the 20th we made the trek to Corinth, Mississippi to spend time with the McCluskey grandparents. We stayed there until the 26th. On the 26th we went to Asheville to celebrate Christmas and then stayed there until 29th. This whole time Lady was at the vet and on the 29th we went back to get her. She was glad to have her parents back. On the 31st we went to Greensboro for New Years and it was a fabulous beginning to a New Year indeed. We saw Breakfast Club play at Greene Street and saw many great friends. We stayed with Kevin and Myles and even Lady got to sleep on their couch with us. It was a LOT of fun! Now one would think that our travels were over but we set off on one more adventure before settling down for the semester. January 8-10 we went to Washington, DC for a conference called PBATS. Josh was the one attending the conference and I just hung out with my family that we were staying with. We stayed with Cameron and Monica. They are so wonderful. We got to eat food for free and have a free place to stay. The first day before the conference started we went to the National Zoo. It was so cool. We got to see all three pandas that are there. I had been to the zoo there before but the pandas weren't out then because the baby was about to be born and it was too hot outside for the Mom. Now back to the job story. After getting back from DC I went to town on the job hunt. I am going to be a More at Four teacher at a place called Merry Land Academy. I'll have 9 four year olds in my classroom and for that I'm very excited. I love the younger children and know that this is the place that I'm supposed to be. I am going to get my B-K add on certificate since I have my Masters and certificate in K-6. Get excited!
